This is my bio, or at least what I plan to pass off as one on this page. I don't exactly trust the people who just surf on by with a whole lot of personal information, so this won't exactly be comprehensive.
Somewhere around the fourth of February in the year 1981, I was born. Life was pretty cool but generally normal for the next six years. I found that I had an older brother, who was three years more aged than me. We had a cat, named Geebee, and some ginuea pigs. I went to kindergarten for a bit. Then we left on a 40 foot sail boat for the South Pacific. We spent two and a half years sailing from port to port, just cruising. Geebee stayed with someone else. Most people (used to, at least) go around visiting Europe after they graduate from high school or college. I guess Jason and I got our travelling in before our learning. We visited places such as New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Fiji, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Niue, in addition to many other places you haven't heard of. The trip would have lasted a full three years were it not for some unfortunate circumstances that were beyond our control.
I think it was June 30, although we were on the other side of the international date line, so it's fuzzy. For the sake of concreteness, June 30, 1989. We were approximately 50 miles north of Noumea, New Calidonia (consult your map now, if you're curious). It was something like 10:30, my parents have told me. We believe a rogue wave hit the boat. Whatever it was, the boat capsized, rolling at least 180 degrees over. I was on the down side, so when it righted, my brother, floorboards, cans, jars, and countless other things landed on top of me. I dug myself and Jason out. Jason got a sprained wrist, (my mom was in the hallway having just come inside, her head hit a light fixture) my mom got a bumb on the noggin and a cut, and I don't remember what happened to my dad. I was unharmed. An hour or more later, another wave hit us, rolling us 90 degrees. A hatch over the galley ripped off and water poured in, right on me. My dad immediatly concluded that we were sinking.
We wern't, and four days later (yes, July 4th) we were picked up by a passing slurry freighter on its way to New Zealand. After some time there (a few weeks), our boat was picked up and we sold it and came back to the US, just in time for school to start. I entered the 3rd grade and my brother went into 6th. After a little bouncing around I ended up in the gate program and stayed in it through 6th grade. I slacked that year and wasn't recommended for honors in 7th. I quickly got back in. Two years at Santiago MS and then to El Modena, where I still am, now a senior.
I have applied to Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern, Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, UCLA, UCB and UCSD. Acceptances have yet to come from any of them, they should be along in a few weeks. I don't have a preference for any of them, having visited none but Stanford.
We've got a German Shepard and a cat, named Koala and Kiwi respectively.
My brother is at UCSC, going for electrical engineering. I'm ready
to graduate and get the heck out of high school.
I'm a bando, a dedicated one. I would be in band were it not for our director this year who is an absolute moron. I dropped at the semester. I play trombone in the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, where I'm second trombone. I also play baritone in Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps where I am having a blast. I'm in Boy Scouts, life rank. Okay, so technically I'm now an adult. Not the point here. Major undecided, but not music.
Seems to be about it. Email me if you have the urge.
